1. Impressive! The Pennsylvania papers show early America. The Australia papers are great. Lots of small towns in Missouri….However, again, no newspapers in the entire states of Illinois and New York? Why do you hate Chicago and New York City? I’ve been waiting forever for great newspapers in America’s largest cities! I’ve been begging you for so many years!

   2. Barry, thanks for the feedback. We have contacted some of the archives you mentioned with mixed results. We are actively looking into adding some of the papers you mentioned and hope to add new content by the end of the year.

      1. Perhaps an article on how Newspapers.com acquires newspapers to digitalize and publish online would be helpful? So many of these articles comment sections break down into “Why don’t you have paper X!”

         *Tracking down newspapers that still exist.
         *The difference in the use of papers in the public domain (either pre 1928 or 1964) vs. those still under copyright.
         *Process of convincing the owners to allow digitalization.
         *Does Newspapers.com “borrow or buy” the microfilm to digitalize?
         *What if the owners say “no”?

         My guess Newspapers.com overall goal is to digitalize all surviving newspapers in the USA (and around the world). I would guess the company has a good idea of what “exists”, especially in the US. Convincing the owners / archives/libraries/historical societies to “share” this data I would guess can be very difficult.

         1. The owners don’t realize what they are losing out on once their hard copy gets worn out. Recently it’s come to the attention DVD’s don’t last anywhere near as long as previously thought.

3. This article stated that there were papers from Michigan, yet there were none listed. Any one know why it wasn’t included?

   1. The Scotsman has an official archive but it never went forwards from 1950 for some reason for a VERY long time.

6. It all depends (I believe) of who owns the microfilm and if the owner “wants to share”. Some library’s and historical societies do NOT want to share. I was VERY surprised that the University of Kentucky has finally decided to share its microfilm collection after years of refusals.

    The Missouri Intelligencer and Boone’s Lick Advertiser
    Held at the State Historical Society of Missouri so I hope th wonderful new arragment with the society collection can restore this publication.

    1. Hi Glenda, I’m happy to report that those papers are still on Newspapers.com. They have just been nested under a larger newspaper. You will find the Missouri Intelligencer 1819-1828 and 1830; as well as the Boone’s Lick Advertiser 1827-1830 under the Columbia Herald-Statesman. 19. Please try to get the wonderful Milwaukee Journal 60s through 70s. Google had digitized some but now cannot find anywhere online.

21. Please make arrangements to access the major Cleveland, Ohio newspapers. Not having access to these leaves a major “blind spot” for finding information about the many immigrant families and their descendants.

I really hope I can read newspapers from Asian countries one day, including some from China, Japan and India. Because newspapers in these countries used to have more readers, especially Japanese people read newspapers every day. Is this okay?
